Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between Boston Korean Life ("we", "us") — a personal project, not a registered business — and you ("User", "you") governing your access to and use of https://www.korboston.com and its related features (the "Service").

By using the Service or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

We may update these Terms; material changes will be noted by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, a notice on the site. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

Definitions

• Service — the Boston Korean Life website and its features: the place/event/guide directory, map and search, saved items, onboarding checklist, and correction/suggestion submissions.
• User / You — anyone using the Service.
• Account — a registered profile (email sign-in or Google sign-in).
• Content — the directory listings, events, and guides shown on the Service.
• Submission — a correction or suggestion a user submits, which is reviewed by an editor or administrator before anything changes on the Service.

User Accounts

When you create an account, you agree to:

• provide accurate account information and keep it up to date,
• take responsibility for activity under your account,
• notify us at korbost12@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Since sign-in is passwordless (a one-time email code, or "Sign in with Google"), there's no password to keep confidential — just don't share access to your email/Google account. You may not create an account using a false identity or on someone else's behalf without consent. Accounts aren't transferable.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or is used to abuse the submission system, with or without notice.

Submissions (Corrections & Suggestions)

If you submit a correction to an existing listing, or (as a trusted contributor) a suggestion for a new one:

• Your submission is never published automatically — an editor or administrator reviews it first.
• You represent that the information you submit is accurate to your knowledge and that any evidence link you provide is something you have the right to share.
• By submitting, you grant us the right to use, edit, and incorporate the information into the Service's directory content if approved. We don't use your submission for promotional/marketing material separate from the directory itself, and published listings don't carry your name as an author.
• We may reject, edit, or remove any submission at our discretion, and may restrict submission ability from accounts that abuse the process.

Intellectual Property

The directory content, design, and code of the Service — other than information drawn from approved user submissions — belong to Boston Korean Life or its licensors. You're given a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not:

• scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the Service using automated tools without our permission,
• copy or redistribute the directory content for commercial purposes,
• reverse-engineer the Service,
• remove proprietary notices from the Service.

Ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages is permitted when it follows our robots.txt rules and does not disrupt the Service. This permission also applies to the automated-access restriction below. Third-party materials remain subject to their applicable licenses.

The "Boston Korean Life" name is used to identify this project; please don't use it to imply an affiliation we haven't agreed to.

Third-Party Services

The Service relies on and links to third-party services: Supabase (authentication, database, storage), Google (optional sign-in, and Google Analytics for aggregate usage tracking once you accept the cookie-consent banner), OpenStreetMap (map tiles), OSRM (driving directions), the MBTA V3 API (transit information for a place's location), and Vercel (hosting). We plan to add advertising in the future — see the Privacy Policy for details on what that will disclose once live. None of these are payment processors or affiliate networks — the Service doesn't charge fees or run an affiliate/referral program.

We aren't responsible for the content, availability, or practices of these third parties or any external site the Service links to (e.g. a place's own website).

Cookies

We use a session cookie (to keep you signed in), a language-preference cookie, and — only if you accept the cookie-consent banner — Google Analytics cookies. No advertising cookies exist yet. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what each cookie does.

Privacy Policy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how. If there's a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy on how personal data is handled, the Privacy Policy controls.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• violate any law or third party's rights while using the Service,
• submit content that's unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or obscene,
• attempt to probe, scan, or bypass the Service's security,
• use bots/scrapers to extract data without permission,
• impersonate another person or Boston Korean Life,
• interfere with the Service's normal operation,
• submit spam or commercial solicitation through the correction/suggestion system.

Violating these may result in suspension, termination, and/or referral to law enforcement where warranted.

Termination

You can request account deletion at any time by contacting korbost12@gmail.com — there's no self-service delete button in account settings yet, so email is the way to do it until one exists. We may suspend or terminate access for a breach of these Terms, abuse of the submission system, or legal/security reasons. Provisions that should survive termination (intellectual property, liability limits, indemnification) continue to apply after termination.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee that directory information (hours, addresses, verification status, etc.) is always accurate or current — it depends in part on user corrections and periodic review — or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Listings and guides are for general information and are not medical, legal, immigration, or other professional advice. A verification label describes our review of listing information; it is not an endorsement, accreditation, or guarantee of a provider or service. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

Confirm hours, services, accessibility, prices, and event details directly with the relevant business or organizer. Transit arrivals, service alerts, and driving routes are estimates and may be incomplete or outdated. Follow posted signs, current conditions, and official transit information, and do not operate the site while driving.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Boston Korean Life is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Since the Service doesn't charge fees, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $100 USD.

Indemnification

You agree to hold Boston Korean Life harmless from claims arising from your violation of these Terms, your submissions, or your violation of another's rights, to the extent permitted by law.

Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

Before pursuing a formal dispute, please contact korbost12@gmail.com first so we can try to resolve it directly. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

General

• Entire agreement: these Terms plus the Privacy Policy make up the whole agreement between you and Boston Korean Life about the Service.
• Severability: if a provision is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
• No waiver: not enforcing a provision once doesn't waive it later.
• Assignment: you can't transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours if the project changes hands.
• No partnership: using the Service doesn't create a partnership, employment, or agency relationship with us.
